Well, it’s official.
After months of working with our landlords to see if we could find a sustainable way to maintain our presence here in Berkeley, we have made the tough decision to close Highwire on San Pablo Avenue and move on.
After 10 years (and a couple months) of hosting our community for coffee service, weddings, baby showers, grieving (in the wake of the Ghost Ship fire), pop up restaurants, and record swaps, musical performances, DJ sets, poetry readings, and getting to know so many wonderful people who passed through our space, we are saying our goodbyes.
Sunday April 14th, 2025 will be our last day of service in this location.
When we came into what was Local 123, a beloved predecessor of ours in this space, we had high hopes of building on what Frieda and crew had created. In spite of iterating on many ideas and finding successes along the way, we ultimately didn't reach financial sustainability. We finally had to accept that it's not meant for us to continue being here.
Highwire will always cherish the fine folks we got to know through our tenure in this special space and hope to see you in one of our other shops from time to time.
